Australian Wins; Meadow Lake Local Remains in Top Spot
Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan -- Each year, the Meadow Lake Stampede Association hosts the Meadow Lake Bull A Rama. For the second year in a row, Australian bull rider Josh Birks has won the event.
This year Birks wins it by scoring a solid 85.5 points on the back of 170 Aftershock from Rafter N Bucking Bulls. With no qualified rides in the final round, the score held up and the Australian claimed his second event win in Season IV of the Bull Riders Canada schedule.
Thank you to Josh Birks for submitting the clip of his winning bull ride:
Meadow Lake local bull rider, Cody Coverchuk retained his number one spot in the BRC National Standings by placing second in the event which was extremely well attended and supported by the community.
Not being one to mix words, Birks was quick to reply when Bull Riders Canada asked him how he felt about being in the number two spot behind Coverchuk. "...I'm not comfortable sitting in the number two spot. I wasn't happy with second last year, so I'm not going to take it this year."
Birks went on to say "It's nice to ride one finally, I've been having no luck the past little while. This is my second BRC event this season and also my second win, so I am going to keep entering as many as I can to get that number one spot and stay there. Look out Coverchuck, this Aussie is about to take you over for the title!"
Things are tightening up in the National Standings and the Season IV is starting to get into a busy time of the year where bull riders can make up a lot of ground in a short period of time. With over 64 events across Canada on the BRC Season IV Schedule, riders from coast to coast are striving to be in the Top 30 when the Finals event takes place in Lloydminster, SK this October.
