Three Events, Three Days, Three Provinces
The Canada Day long weekend played host to three Bull Riders Canada events in Western Canada: Rockyford, AB June 30th, Bengough, SK July 1st and Vernon, BC July 2nd.
Rockyford, Alberta – With over an inch of rain two hours before the event, the Rockyford Lions Club and Agricultural Society were optimistic that the local area residents would brave the elements to support the second annual Rockyford Bull A Rama. By the time the event started, the stands were full and the loyal fans were treated to a good bull riding and spectacular fireworks display!
Cylas Bigchild scored his second event win of the season by winning the long round with an 80 point ride on Vold Rodeo Co/Prescott’s Special Price; collecting over $3400.00 for his efforts.
Bengough, Saskatchewan – Immediately following the event, many of the riders loaded into their vehicles and made their way to Bengough, SK for the Canada Day Bull Riding Presented by Nelson Motors.
The crowd, which was nearly twice the size as it was just one year ago were not the only ones who were feeling good on our Nations birthday. The bulls supplied by four of Saskatchewan’s top stock contractors all seemed to bring their “A” game. 26 Bull Riders representing some of the top talents within Bull Riders Canada didn’t have an answer for the bovine athletes as the long go round saw just three 8 second rides.
Jerett Nash won the event with a solid 82 point ride on Rafter KO Bucking Bulls’ Ambassador. For the win, Nash pocketed over $2200.00 and earned valuable points to help solidify his top 30 spot in the BRC National Standings.
Vernon, British Columbia – This was the final stop for the BRC Contestants over the holiday long weekend.
Josh Birks earned himself more points and more money when he collected another win in the Season IV schedule. Scoring 90 points on the back of Coyote Creek Rodeo’s Slim City, Birks put some distance between himself and the number two man, Cody Coverchuk.
The Vernon event was unique since it was only a 13 Contestant show that featured 7 qualified rides; 53.8 percent!
Thank you to Cylas Bigchild, Josh Birks and Jerett Nash for submitting the clips of their winning rides:
