Riders Making Strong Finish

High Prairie, Alberta - With High Prairie being the first of only two events remaining in the Bull Riders Canada Inc. Season IV schedule, the bull riders showed off and rode ten bulls to make the Season Leader race the closest in the Association’s history.

Chris Young, Bullsbrook, W. Australia was declared the event champion after scoring a solid 81 point ride in the first round and an 82.5 point effort in the second round. The Australian cowboy took home over $2600.00 dollars for his efforts and improved to seventh place in the BRC National Standings.

The first round victory went to Griffin Smeltzer, Claresholm, AB with an 82.5 score aboard Foley Bucking Bulls 3X ASAP Rocky.

Winning the second round with an 85 point ride on Thompson Rodeo’s 311 F.O.A.D. was Will Purcell, Merrijig, Australia. With the round victory, Purcell moved into second place in the BRC National Standings; 100 points behind current Season Leader Josh Birks, Coonamble, NSW, Australia.

Bull Riders Canada caught up with Will following the event and when asked about his move to the number 2 spot, he said "...yeah, it feels good but makes me even hungrier for the number 1 spot!"

Thank you to Will Purcell for submitting the clip of his 85 point ride!

The BRC National Standings also includes five bull riders from the Eastern portion of the Bull Riders Canada schedule who are currently inside the top 30 spots for the coveted National Finals; held October 21st & 22nd in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Of those five bull riders, two are from Ontario, one from Quebec, one from Oklahoma, United States and one from Georgia, United States.

With only a single event remaining in the current season, there are a maximum of 400 points still up for grabs. This means that there is still a three-rider race for the Season Leader and the National Title is within the grasp of any of the top five bull riders in the current standings... hat an exciting race this has become!
